Since I registered to https://learning.oreilly.com, I am becoming an avid reader/listener of online books & sessions. Getting access to so much of content under one roof, is overwhelming. Felt like a kid in a toy store. In this immense knowledge bank, it is easy to wonder away for days without realizing. Even with lots of wondering, I am trying to keep my reading around a central theme – Scalable Distributed Architecture.
Below are what I finished reading, my wonderings & what I am serious about:
Finished:
- Software Architecture Fundamentals Understanding the Basics by Neal Ford, Mark Richards (6 Hrs Video): Very Good introduction to modern Software Architecture.
- Head First Design Patterns (Book): Undoubtedly Good, I specially like their lucid style.
- Continuous Delivery: Reliable Software Releases through Build, Test, and Deployment Automation by Jez Humble & David Farley (Book): Enjoyed reading it
My wonderings:
- Behavior-Driven Development with Cucumber: Better Collaboration for Better Software (Book): Good Book, eventhough unfinished, I liked the concept of MMF (Minimum Marketable Features)
- Cloud Native Patterns by Cornelia Davis (Book): Read the first chapter and moved on to something else. Will come back again.
- The Logstash Book by James Turnbull (Book): Wanted to explore the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana)
- Beyond the Twelve-Factor App by Kevin Hoffman (Book): Done 50%, this is a quick pointer to all things needed to make an application cloud native
- Cloud Native Infrastructure by Justin Garrison, Kris Nova (Book)
- Cloud Native Patterns by Cornelia Davis (Book): I guess this I will read, so far I liked it.
- Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture by Martin Fowler (Book): Without at least one of his book my collection would be incomplete. This one is yet to start.
Seriously Reading:
- REST in Practice by Jim Webber, Savas Parastatidis, Ian Robinson (book): Just started, at least planned to read 50% of the book.
